The Baroque Heritage

The Santa Maria and Sant Joan d'Oló churches are the greatest exponents of the Baroque style in Oló.
Santa Maria d'Oló was built from 1646 replacing a former structure of Romanesque origin. It preserves in its interior a magnificent Baroque altarpiece dedicated to Mother of God which was entirely restored in 1991. In an aisle there is also a small altarpiece dedicated to Saint Isidre.
The new church of Sant Joan d'Oló assumed the parochial duties in 1643. The site includes the church, the vicarage, attached to it, a small graveyard and a porch. It preserves in its interior three magnificent Baroque altarpieces. It is a singular site of great beauty.
