The old Town
In the old town, located on the highest point, there are remains of the castle, already documented in 930, the old parish church of Santa Maria, a building dating from the first half of the 17th century, erected in the same place where the former church had been consecrated in 999, and a large number of houses, most of which were built in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Sant Antoni street, popularly known as la costa (“the slope”, in Catalan) due to its steep incline, connects the old town with the flat area, where the town started expanding in the 19th century. In the Sant Antoni Maria Claret Square there is the new parish church, built between 1957 and 1963, which constitutes a magnificent example of religious architecture of the 20th century.
