L’Estany Monastery and Museum
The Augustinian canonry of Santa Maria de L’Estany existed between the 11th and 15th centuries. It is currently a simple parish. The remaining buildings are the church (12th century) and the magnificent cloisters (13th century) with 72 sculpted capitals which are some of the most interesting of all Catalan Romanesque architecture.
The former abbot’s residences now host a local museum holding artefacts from the monastery, ethnological objects from the town and part of the monastic and parish archives.
