Enric Prat de la Riba Birthplace Museum

This is the house where the eminent Catalan politician Enric Prat de la Riba (1870-1917) was born and died. Prat de la Riba was one of the main theorists and proponents of Catalan nationalism – he founded the Lliga Regionalista (Regionalist League of Catalonia) and was the first president of the Commonwealth of Catalonia. From his position of influence he embarked on a project of modernising and improving the country.
Through carefully conserved spaces and others that have been newly introduced, the visitor gains an insight into the personal and political biography of this great Catalan patrician, who Eugeni d’Ors named as “Catalonia’s organising good sense”, and will see the reach and endurance of his life’s work. In addition, a visit allows us to see how a wealthy rural house was in the early 20th century.
